Jin Kazama — TEKKEN 8 Character Guide
Extreme threatUpdated 2026-06-03
Jin Kazama is TEKKEN 8's all-rounder poster boy and consistently one of the strongest characters in the game. He has tools for every situation — great pokes, a top-tier launcher in Electric Wind God Fist (EWHF), strong Heat mechanics, and a straightforward game plan. The only downside is everyone knows the matchup, but that matters less when your fundamentals are solid.
Key moves and tools
Jin's toolkit is huge, but you only need a handful of moves to win. His df+1 is a 13-frame mid poke that tracks both sides — it is your main neutral tool. f+4 is a long-range mid Heat Engager that gives a combo on counter hit. EWHF (f,n,d,f+1) is a 14-frame launcher that is safe on block. His d+4 is a fast low poke that keeps opponents honest. Learn these four moves and you have a complete game plan.
| Move | Input | Properties | Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| EWHF | f,n,d,f+1 | 14f, launches, safe | Punish, whiff punish, pressure |
| f+4 | f+4 | Heat Engager, CH combo | Long range poke, stance entry |
| df+1 | df+1 | 13f mid, tracks | Neutral poke, check |
| d+4 | d+4 | Fast low, + on hit | Low poke, frame trap setup |
| Zen 1+2 | f+3+4 then 1+2 | Mid throw, 35 dmg | Throw mix from Zen stance |
Combos
Jin's B&B combo from df+2 launcher: df+2 > f+4 > b+3 > f+3 > 2 S! > dash > f+3, 4. This does 78 damage with no Heat. In Heat mode, add a Heat Dash after the screw: df+2 > f+4 > b+3 > f+3 > 2 S! > Heat Dash > f+3, 4. That bumps damage to 92. For wall carry, replace b+3 with f,f+3, f+3, 2 to push them further before the screw.
Matchup tips
Jin has no bad matchups, but some are trickier than others. Against Dragunov, use sidestep left to avoid his d+2 and punish with EWHF. Against Kazuya, out-space his Hell Sweep with f+4. Against King, keep him at mid range where his grabs whiff. Jin's weakness is his linearity on some key moves — if opponents sidestep your f+4, switch to df+1 which tracks.
FAQ
- Is Jin the best character in TEKKEN 8?
- He is consistently ranked top 3 alongside Dragunov and Feng. His versatility and low execution floor make him the safest pick at any level.
- How hard is it to learn Jin's Electric?
- EWHF takes practice. Expect one to two weeks of daily 15-minute drills to land it consistently. Start with the regular Wind God Fist (f,n,d,f+2) — it is slower but launches on hit and builds muscle memory for the motion.
